The Newtown Creek Visitor Center opened this weekend!  People interested in our waste water treatment plant or any NYC water issues will be able to find information on a range of topics concerning our city’s  water system.  The Department of Environmental Protection along with our community have been working on this project for quite some time and its opening marks a major step forward for Newtown Creek’s $5 billion reconstruction.  The center also displays artwork from varying artists including a sculpture by Vito Acconi.  His work has been commissioned through The Percent for Art Program which subsidizes artists to create ‘site-specific’ artwork.

The center is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from noon – 4pm.  You can also schedule a tour by contacting the DEP at educationoffice@dep.nyc.gov, or by phone at 718-595-3506.
