Keep Summer Alive at Mister Dips, Ample Hills, & Nitehawk

Mister Dips’ New Aunt Edna Cone

Oh, yes, winter is coming, but Mister Dips, Nitehawk, and Ample Hills are all ready to help you forget all about that and enjoy these last few weeks of sunshine and warm breezes! Mister Dips debuted a few new menu items last week, Nitehawk wants you to savor boozy slushies to your heart’s content, and Ample Hills can now be delivered to your door.

First, the savory. Mister Dips, the Airstream burger shack in Vale Park at The William Vale (111 N. 12th St), is quite possibly serving up some of the best burgers in North Brooklyn. If you’ve never been, they’re of the griddle-top variety made famous by McDonald’s and vastly improved upon by Shake Shack. You can wash that all down with their new float, Orange Cloud, a mix of that classic vanilla ice cream and orange soda. If you prefer your sweets at the end of dinner, try the new cone, Aunt Edna! Made specifically for autumnal enthusiasts, the cone consists of spicy cinnamon soft serve dipped in green apple shell before being topped with creme fraiche, crumbles, and caramel. You’ll want to get in on this sooner rather than later! Continue reading

The thing about Vale Park is you can easily miss that it’s there. The public space lies one floor up from Wythe Avenue and North 12th Street and is a part of Williamsburg’s The William Vale hotel. But heading upstairs is completely worth it. There’s a little collection of raised beds growing a few greens, a decent-sized grassy knoll perfect for watching the sunset and at the far end, a vintage Airstream. That Airstream is the home of Mister Dips, the hotel’s burger stands.

Mister Dips is one of The William Vale’s offerings from acclaimed chef Andrew Carmellini, the man behind such delicious places as Bar Primi, The Dutch, Little Park, and Locanda Verde. He’s also won two James Beard awards and garnered more than a few stars from The New York Times. The man knows what he’s doing. Yes, even with grill top burgers and waffle fries. Continue reading
