These Kids Wanna Play Basketball: Eat Dinner For Them

These kids are too cool to even look at the camera.

You have two choices for this Saturday night: Go out for dinner OR go out for dinner and donate the profits to help kids play basketball. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA CHOOSE?

If you’re a decent human being, I have now shamed you into going to the 5 Boros Basketball Fundraiser. 5 Boros is a non-profit that benefits underprivileged youth by providing sports programs.  See, trickery can be used for good…? They say this party is gonna have dinner and dancing and that it will be “a fun night out.” And there will be a raffle. YAY!

Info: 7-11pm @American Legion 1771 (519-521 Leonard St)

Tickets are $30 and include the previously mentioned dinner meal. Contact Tara for tickets: 5borosbasketball [at] gmail [dot] com.

5 Boros Basketball Fundraiser

I’ve written about the 5 Boros Basketball group before. They are a great bunch of people who help local kids succeed in basketball and help them obtain scholarships for their skills on the court. They also host a clinic every Saturday in JHS 126 from 8:30 am – 10:30 am for 4th and 5th and 6th graders.

PLUS, they’re a bunch of WINNERS! 5 Boros Basketball teams have entered three tournaments in the past three months and have won all of them – not bad for a new program! Check out these kids:

This month they are having their first official fundraising event. Dinner and dancing at the American Legion 1771. Cash bar, raffles and prizes – all for $25 and all to help local kids. Win-win!

5 Boros Basketball – Free Clinics

Youth traveling basketball program 5 Boros Basketball recently had their Annual Basketball tournament with an unheard of 36 teams playing from all over the 5 Boroughs this past summer.

They are now offering two free clinics/workouts for kids:
Saturday Oct 16th 9:00 am – 1:00 pm for boys and girls ages 9-13
Saturday Oct 30th 9:00 am – 1:00 pm for boys and girls ages ages 14-18

We will have high school coaches on location helping in the drills and watching the kids. It’ll be a lot of fun and a great workout. ANYONE is invited and it’s FREE from 5 BOROS BASKETBALL

The clinic/workout is free for the kids but not free for us so we are always looking for sponsors and donations whether it be donating money or basketballs or whatever we can use.

For more information contact Rick Atson at 347-723-4886 or Michael Herring at 917-418-2057 email [email protected] or go to our site http://www.5borosbasketball.com/.

5 Boros Basketball

Friend and longtime Greenpointer Rick Atson has sent me information on a new basketball league for kids that he’s help put together. Rick has spent years supporting local youth sports and helping kids get scholarships to high schools that they might not have otherwise had the opportunity to attend.

Putting together 5 Boros Basketball will continue with this tradition and they are now looking for sponsors and teams. For just $250 your business can sponsor a team with your company’s name on their uniforms! The info for businesses is below and also check out their website to learn more about playing or sponsoring.

5 Boros Basketball is proud to announce their 1st annual basketball tournament starting July 2010 thru September 2010 playing out of Hoffman Park (directly across from Queens Center Mall). We would like to offer you this opportunity to advertise with us.

Our tournament consists of various teams of all ages throughout the 5 boros. Publicity is a key factor of a successful industry. At 5 Boros we are firm believers NYC youth deserve more opportunities to enjoy youth sports despite their financial situations. In order to cut costs we are reaching out to the community, to help sponsor our event. So our youth can have a memorable experience please consider to make a donation.

We are asking for a small donation of $50 in return your business name will be printed on a banner that will be hung in Hoffman Park all day and night during our tournament.

Our second option is a donation of $100 in return your business name will be printed on a banner that will be hung in Hoffman Park all day and night during our tournament as well as having your business name advertised on our website. A distribution of promotional bags will be given to all players as well.

Our best option is only $250 and that gives you all the above AND your business name printed on an entire teams shirts as their sponsor. What better way to get your name out there?

Please consider making a donation to our tournament. Keeps our kids off the streets, out of trouble at the same time doing something we all love – playing basketball. Come down and watch a few games every weekend in July and August championship games at Christ the King.
