That’s right folks. Get ready to tie up those laces because our favorite and only ice skating rink is now back in business! From now until January 4th 2015, Greenpointers can ice skate their hearts and fannies off at the McCarren Park Ice Rink. Thanks to a nice $100,000+ injection from Councilman Levin’s office for parks-related improvements, our little ice rink is now a whopping 25% bigger!

This year…

  1. I actually grew up on North 8th Street between Bedford and Driggs Avenues. In the early 60’s I had an apartment on Diamond Street but don’t remember the address. I do remember there was a bar on the ground floor. After that I moved to 143 Russell Street betweenManhattan and Driggs Avenues. I use to frequent a bar called the Landmark but don’t for the life of me know where it was located. Also there was a bar on the corner of Russell and Manhattan Avenues, I think you would call it an Irish bar.
