Local food lovers rejoice! Bonnie’s, Nura, and Wenwen all made it onto the latest edition of the Michelin Guide, the prestigious food organization’s list of recommended restaurants.
These restaurants join 22 other New York City establishments that earned a spot in the guide this year, Forbes reports. Other local restaurants have earned recognition over the years, such as Chez Ma Tante, Di an Di, and Rule of Thirds. Oxomoco even earned itself a Michelin star in 2018, just five months after opening, reported Brooklyn Post.
Wenwen, a homey and family-focused Taiwanese spot, and Bonnie’s, whose Cantonese-American cuisine made waves with an inspired “McRib” pop-up, are both homages to the chef’s respective mothers, who must be incredibly proud right now. The Greenpointers team has not been able to make a reservation at either restaurant (they’re hard to come by!), but we ate at Nura a few months ago, which earned raves from all of us.
Over the past few months, Greenpointers brought you coverage of all three standouts, even documenting Wenwen before it opened. You can also check out our interviews with all three chefs — Calvin Eng of Bonnie’s, Jackie Carnesi of Nura, and Eric Sze of Wenwen.
