Tonight, a community workshop is being hosted by the Newtown Creek Alliance to draft a plan for a future public access point adjacent to the wastewater treatment plant at the corner of Greenpoint and Kingsland Avenues.

The Gateway to Greenpoint envisioning kickoff happens tonight at 520 Kingsland Ave. from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

A series of public access points along Newtown Creek are planned with phase two and three of the nature walk to be completed in 2020. The public future access sites are in an area of Greenpoint that has experienced historic pollution from oil refineries and are part of a larger ‘greening’ effort that included the Kingsland Wildflowers green roof that opened in 2017.
