The interior of Bury the Hatchet on the Greenpoint waterfront

Bury the Hatchet (25 Noble St.) is the new axe throwing bar located near the Greenpoint waterfront and tonight (Oct. 25) from 6 -9 p.m. you can bring your friends and family to toss an axe on the house. The soft opening is a free community meet and greet, and quick lessons will be provided to help you learn to safely wield and throw an axe.

Manager Christine Meehan demonstrates the overhead throw.

The large and open space features eight axe throwing lanes with two targets each; up to 12 people are permitted for each lane during a regular two hour session that costs $39.99 per person. Axe masters join each group to help guide a safe session and to keep score during each game. The Greenpoint location is the first Bury the Hatchet to open in NYC and counts as the regional chain’s ninth location.

The axes at Bury the Hatchet are surprisingly light

A similar business, Kick Axe, opened in Gowanus 2017, and Bury the Hatchet differentiates itself by offering competitive leagues and plans to hold events. According to manager Christine Meehan, future comedy nights and music performances will be held in the rear area by the bar.

Although other Bury the Hatchet locations are BYOB, the venue will be alcohol-free until its state liqour license is approved. Hours are Mon – Thur 4:30 – 10 p.m.; Fri 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.; Sat 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 a.m.; Sun 12:30 – 10 p.m.
