Heads up, Greenpoint environment buffs: there’s two petroleum remediation meetings happening in our hood this week.

The first takes place today and will address the BP Terminal Site. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) will be on-hand to respond to questions and comments, as well as provide updates on active dual phase and single phase product recovery wells, the groundwater treatment system, vapor monitoring, and more.

The meeting will also address the October 2015 deal between Kinder Morgan and BP, which involves the transfer of ownership and operation of the Brooklyn Terminal to KM Phoenix Holdings, LLC, which goes into effect on Feb. 1.

On Wednesday, there’ll be a meeting regarding the ExxonMobil remediation, with more information on proposals for “no action” and “no further action” for portions of the EMGPRP site. The public will be invited to comment about these proposals through Feb. 15, 2016.
