Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

Earlier this month, North Brooklyn lost another little snippet of its former self when local friend and famed Williamsburg pizza deliveryman, Bill Meier, passed away. Always known for his spunk and vivacious personality, Bill was delivering pizzas for Williamsburg Best Pizza for years before he fell ill.

Upon learning of Bill’s illness, more than 1,000 friends, family, and local fans took to Facebook hoping to raise money for his medical bills through a silent art auction. Unfortunately, time was not their side as frequent Facebook updates showed Bill’s health had fallen into serious decline.  On February 1st, three weeks after being admitted to Woodhull hospital, Bill had passed away peacefully.

Last Saturday, the folks who loved him and knew him best, held a tribute bicycle ride in Bill’s honor. Many came out and made the ride through Williamsburg and over the bridge. It was a fitting end to a man that touched so many people.

v

RIP Bill, you made an indelible mark on many.
