01.30.14 Mixtape // Heaven’s Gate

Powergazers Heaven’s Gate rounds up this week’s playlist. It doesn’t follow a theme so much as it captures a wide scope. Need a clarification? Lend your ears after the jump.

HG guitarist/founder Michael Sheffield explains:

When I originally made a playlist for your site, I assumed Spotify had a lot of songs that they don’t (no Index? PC Worship? Harry Crews?). I guess this stresses the importance of having multiple independent conduits for your cultural intake. The original mix had a central theme of being “stuck in one place” but this mix doesn’t really have any theme which is sort of how Heaven’s Gate works. It’s the cathartic work of five different people; an imperfect non sequitur, pop inane, but on luckier nights chilling.
