Thanks to Ruth for emailing me all the things going on in McCarren Park this Saturday. A full day of fun at the park!

Hey Greenpointers!

I wanted to let you know about four awesome happenings all in McCarren Park this coming Saturday from 11am-6pm! All free and all ages! Would love if you could help spread the word!! This weekend McCarren isn’t all about the hipster watching, but there are actually some real events with substance going on!

1. Kite Festival! – In conjunction with “It’s My Park!,” a citywide celebration of green spaces across the five boroughs, this outdoor party encourages kids to inhale fresh air ) and get their kites soaring. If two fragile fliers collide, there’s no need to worry: “Doctors” at an on-site kite hospital will administer quick repairs. Terrestrial activities include arts-and-crafts projects, a karate demonstration and a performance by Time Out Kids fave AudraRox, and free face painting! The Kite Festival is a fundraiser for PS 132!

2. The Williamsburg GreenMarket will be in full effect and will have a table and cooking demo over inside the park this coming Saturday for the Kite Festival!

3. Artists & Fleas Market @artistsandfleas in McCarren returns for a summer long market along Bedford Ave across from McCarren! This week to support Its my Park Day and the Kite Festival, they will have a free photobooth at the market for any and all to come and get a photo taken with their kites! Plus up to 30 vendors featuring all handmade products!! And some yummy foodies too including…

4. Kickstand Coffee launches at the Market in McCarren!! Kickstand is committed to providing the best possible cup of coffee to community events in NYC with the smallest environmental impact possible. We achieve this goal by using bikes not only for all of our transportation needs, but also for a portion of the power we use in brewing the coffee we serve. At Kickstand getting people outdoors and bringing them together over coffee is our primary goal. read more and find photos at – @kickstandcoffee
