I’m not sure how many of you have had the chance to check out Bushwick Inlet Park but a few weeks ago, me and a couple of girlfriends found ourselves down there and it was a damn nice spot to be.  My girlfriend Jenn Cerezo took this awesome picture that day.

FUNDRAISER FOR BUSHWICK INLET PARK

Dear Greenpointers,

In 2005, Williamsburg and Greenpoint residents were promised a twenty eight acre waterfront park stretching from North 9th Street to the Bushwick Inlet. Five years later much of that waterfront is still inaccessible to us.

We could get mad. We could stomp our feet and gnash our teeth and maybe even throw some tea in the Bushwick Inlet. But we at Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park and our friends at Neighbors Allied for Good Growth decided the wiser course was to drink some good beer and eat delicious bratwursts instead. All in the name of a good cause.

The idea is to raise some cash to landscape the public sidewalk that sits at the head of the Bushwick Inlet. Currently, there are some nice young trees there and thanks to the recent rain, a bumper crop of weeds. We figure if we make it look nice it will be nicer (not to mention cleaner) to peer thru the chain link fence and dream of the park that one day we hope will be ours. Thankfully, our friends at The Diamond on Franklin just north of our promised park offered to let us do it at their place and they’re even sponsoring the whole thing on our behalf. How cool is that?

Come join us at The Diamond on May 8th. If the weather’s nice we’ll be in the backyard grillin’ and chillin’ and dreamin’ of the park that one day (soon) we hope will be ours. Even if it’s rainin’ we’ll still be hangin’ just minus the bratwursts (but still with the beer).
