A little over a year ago, the Greenpoint Business Association was formed and Gina from local Zaya’s Appliances gave me all the deets on a holiday promotion they were running from several businesses in the area. Since then I hadn’t heard much more but this morning I received an email from the coordinator, Jennifer Hilton and they are really ramping up the effort.

They are having a special Valentine’s Day promotion with three local favorites that just screams perfect date!

Dear Justine,

I wanted to give you an update on some new initiatives by the Greenpoint Business Association. Gina at Zaya Appliances, Rich Mazur of North Brooklyn Development Corporation, John Tapper from the Garden and Jack Bakowski are working diligently on revitalizing the Greenpoint Business Association with the support of the Department of Small Business Services in NYC. I am working as a consultant with them at this time surveying the businesses in the community – including Manhattan Avenue, Franklin and Nassau. It is a lot of territory but proving to be a great benefit to understand the needs of the Greenpoint Business community.

We have supported three businesses for a promotion this weekend and I was hoping you would highlight it on your blog….

I look forward to our speaking soon…oh such sad, sad news about the Greenpoint Coffee House closing!

Very best,

Jennifer Hilton – Coordinator

Greenpoint Businesses Joining Forces to Bring Consumers to the “Point”

The newly revitalized Greenpoint Business Association is working with local businesses to develop ways of bringing a stronger sense of commerce to the Greenpoint community.

v

All too often Greenpoint is looked on as an arms length extension of Williamsburg Brooklyn, almost a secondary spot of commerce, instead of a primary destination. The newly revitalized Greenpoint Business Association is working with neighborhood businesses to change that.

Over the Valentine Day weekend three Greenpoint businesses are joining forces and offering incentives to shop and eat locally. Dandelion Wine, known for their Friday night wine tasting soiree, is teaming up with fredflare – the “cutest” store in Greenpoint and Eat restaurant – delicious fresh and local food, with a triangle promotion. Attend the Dandelion Wine Friday tasting or shop and buy wine over the weekend and with select offerings you will receive a 25% gift card for fredflare. Also, when you bring your wine purchase and receipt over to Eat restaurant – they have a BYO policy, you can get an additional 10% off on your meal.

This campaign is a demonstration of the collective marketing the Greenpoint Business Association is supporting as well as addressing additional ways of improving commerce in the community.

The Valentine weekend promotion between Dandelion Wine, fredflare and Eat will run from Friday February 12 – 14, 2010. So come out to Greenpoint have a Dandy celebration, buy the “cutest” stuff and Eat well.
