So everyone has seen the Dick Chicken graffiti all over the neighborhood. It’s got a cult following and even a ‘spinoff’ with Pussy Ham. Go check out the private preview of the Dick Chicken exhibition ‘GIRLS & SNACKS‘ at 3rd Ward’s new space before it opens to the public at 7 pm. Saturday morning you can participate in the NBCP (North Brooklyn Compost Project) end-of-season FUNraiser. It’s a bake sale, raffle, silent auction and a chance to get your hands dirty planting bulbs and mulching street trees at McCarren Park.

This Saturday afternoon the Greenpoint branch of the Brooklyn Public library is having a book and bake sale. And you know how good Greenpointers are at baking. Seriously, it’s like fresh baked goods everywhere up in this piece! Facebook event here.

On Saturday stop by Brouwerij Lane for the Kombucha Brooklyn Kegger to sample KBBK’s flavor debut from the tap. Anyone who yells “Drink the Revolution” will receive a complimentary glass of Straight-Up while supplies last. Join us Saturday October 24th as we welcome our friends at Kombucha Brooklyn. They’ll be launching their first ever kegged kombucha, and unveiling several new kombucha flavors. Also on Saturday – The Pumpkin Festival at Cooper Park will have pumpkins, arts/crafts, live music from Seedy Punkins, the Greenpoint Y & soccer tips by FC Select NY! Festivities start at 11 am on Saturday, October 24th. Afterwards, we’ll all march over to PS 132 for more fun at their Harvest Festival!

A little late for Oktoberfest but fun nonetheless – MeanRed brings Oktoberfest to Greenpoint. On Sunday, October 25th, MeanRed is bringing a day of music, food, crafts, spectacle, and of course, beer, to the Brooklyn waterfront. Greenpoint Food Market will be there, too! Facebook event here.

For the kiddies on Sunday there’s a Halloween Parade up the Avenue.

Our Annual Children’s Halloween Parade & Party starts at 4 pm on Sunday, October 25th at 176 Java Street (b/w Manhattan Ave & McGuinness Blvd). Led by NY Finest’s Jazz Ensemble, everyone’s invited to march down Manhattan Avenue to Nassau Avenue and back again to 176 Java Street to a spooktacular party for kids up to 12 years old. There’ll be games, crafts, music & yummy things to eat. Tons of fun for all!

New local hair joint, The Parlour Brooklyn, is hosting an event on Sunday with some bloody mary’s and creepy treats. You can get your nails and hair did for a wild Halloween look for $90. Also, they have a junior stylist here that has haircuts for $35 and $45 on Tuesday and Fridays if you can’t make it to Sunday’s event.
