Northside Music Festival: What Not To Miss

So you all know that this weekend is L Magazine’s maiden Northside Music Festival, but I just wanted to take a brief moment to point out an event that should be of particular interest to you: The Ricky Forbes Presents showcase tomorrow night at Matchless.

Brooklyn bands Fan Tan, The Darlings and our personal favorite/headliner of the evening, Workout will be playing. Doors are at 8pm, with music starting around 9. Since its only $7, you won’t have to dig that deep.

With a name like Workout, its easy to conjure up nightmares of the stair machine, But this music is the opposite. On Workout, you could do the stair machine for ten hours straight on the highest setting with a backpack full of bricks and just be getting warmed up. I know that’s not very descriptive, so how about this instead: If you like Queen, you’ll like Workout. If you like Sparks or David Bowie, you’ll like Workout. Its poor form to neglect your inner Ziggy Stardust, so bust out your face paint and head on over to Matchless tomorrow night. If thats not enough incentive – here is another tasty one: Matchless is serving food now and I can vouch for the fries – they are the perfect midnight snack.
