While sifting through the trades today, I came across an interesting blog entry on the NYT page about a new website called Brooklyn Revealed. The site, which was created by the New York Historical Society, went live on Thursday and is really, really cool. The site is interactive and is intended to be a “virtual experience” for the people who visit it. Though it still appears to be in its fledgling stages, you can click on the Bushwick portion of the map and find some facts on our beloved Greenpoint. I highly recommend checking out the page. I find a lot of people I know who live in Greenpoint are transient and thus not very interested in our neighborhood’s history. But if you find yourself wondering what Manhattan Avenue looked like one hundred years ago, Brooklyn Revealed is a great new resource for those who are craving a little GPT background.
