A Benefit Dinner for Greenpoint Soup Kitchen with Chefs from Saltie and Diner Journal (10/02)

greenpoint_church_vegWhen 61 Franklin Street Community Garden and Greenpoint Church get together, they throw some of the most fun and delicious fundraiser community dinners – and they’re hosting another one this Friday evening!

A $60 ticket includes an amazing three-course meal with unlimited wine from Dandelion Wine and beer by Sixpoint. Veggies are from the community garden and meat comes from Sun Fed Beef in upstate NY (and there will be a wonderful veggie option for non meat-eaters).

The meal will be prepared by two talented local chefs : Caroline Fidanza owner of Saltie, the cult Williamsburg sandwich shop, and Millicent Souris, who has cooked at Egg, Roebling Tea Room and the Queen’s Hideaway. Both chefs have published their own cookbooks and regularly contribute to Diner Journal. Continue reading

Mr. Curry at Achilles Heel (08/28)

From time to time, every couple of months, I get a severe craving for an outrageously good curry. Unfortunately I’m yet to find a really awesome local curry house but, this Thursday, for one night only, help is at hand! Or at Heel (schnarfle).

Achilles Heel will be welcoming Caroline Fidanza of Saltie to host a London-style curry night extraordinaire! The full, mouthwatering menu is below and the team at Achilles will be whipping up cocktails and a special punch to pair with all the dishes.
