Good local journalism
doesn’t happen by accident.
Greenpointers has been your neighbor since 2007 — covering Greenpoint and Williamsburg with the kind of close, ground-level attention that only comes from people who actually live here. We’re free to read, independently owned, and powered entirely by the community we serve.

Why we need your support
Local news is collapsing across the country. Papers are shutting down, reporters are being laid off, and entire neighborhoods are being left without anyone to cover the school board meeting, the rezoning vote, the new restaurant, or the neighbor doing something remarkable.
Greenpointers exists because this community deserves better than that. We’ve been here through the waterfront development fights, the L train shutdown, every twist and transformation this neighborhood has gone through — and we’ve covered it all. Not because an algorithm told us to, but because we live here too.
We don’t have a hedge fund behind us. We’re not owned by a media conglomerate. We’re funded by readers — neighbors who believe a community without local journalism is a community flying blind.
Stories only we told
- Environment Tracking the Meeker Avenue Superfund plume and the fight for tenant right-to-know — years before it reached mainstream coverage.
- Development Following every rezoning proposal and waterfront project from the first community board meeting to City Hall — your block’s future, covered from day one.
- Community Amplifying local voices: small business owners, longtime residents, organizers, and artists who make this neighborhood what it is.
- Events The most complete neighborhood events calendar in North Brooklyn — because knowing what’s happening shouldn’t cost a thing.
“I found out about the rezoning proposal that would have changed my block through Greenpointers. I had no idea it was even happening. This site is essential.”
— Maria T., Greenpoint resident since 1993
Give what you can
There’s no right amount. Whether it’s $5 or $50, your contribution goes directly to keeping a reporter at the community board meeting and a writer on the street. We use Venmo — it takes about 30 seconds.

Tapping a button above opens Venmo with the amount pre-filled — you choose what feels right.
No Venmo? Email us at [email protected] and we’ll work something out.

Other ways to help
Spread the word. Share our stories. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook. Tell a neighbor. Word-of-mouth is the single best thing you can do for a small local outlet like ours.
Advertise with us. If you run a local business, sponsoring Greenpointers puts you in front of engaged North Brooklyn readers. Get in touch to hear about options.
Send us tips. If something is happening in the neighborhood and you think we should know, reach out. Good journalism depends on people who know things speaking up.
