Drink Booze. End Cancer. This Thursday, at Moonlight Mile (200 Franklin St). The community event to benefit the HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation is part of a fundraising effort by Greenpoint resident Sam Wils, who will be taking part in a 200 mile row boat race from Barcelona to Ibiza – the NOMAN is an Island Race to End HPV – later this summer. Wils was inspired by his childhood friends and neighbors who started the HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation after their mother, Paulette, passed away a few years ago from Anal Cancer, which is related to HPV (Human Papillomavirus; affects nearly 80 million Americans and is responsible for 5% of all cancers worldwide).
Partnering in the effort and Thursday night’s event are neighborhood vendors such as liquor sponsor NY Distilling Co. and Paulie Gee’s, Esme, Duke’s Liquor Box, Order.Design, Dandelion Wine, and Evil and Love Tattoo, all of which are donating products and gift certificates that will be raffled off at the event, along with items from corporate sponsors Korres and Good Housekeeping.
There is no cost to attend the event. A portion of bar proceeds and all raffle contributions plus any other donations made at the event will go to directly to HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation. And the first $2,000 raised will be matched!
