A three-day weekend is ahead for most of us so it’s the perfect time to catch music in the city.
Starting tonight (10/6) with the Tumbao party at Yayo’s, Arepa Disco at the Black Flamingo, and a bring-your-own-vinyl event at Lot 45.
Also, legendary rock lunatic Ian Hunter.
But first, if you are itching to get your Halloween spook on, catch Jungle Fever at Output Thursday for a DJ take on Mexico’s Day of the Dead.
For the Tumbao and Arepa Disco shows mentioned before, there will be excellent Latin food available at both club restaurants, and the Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz knows the best reason to attend — even if he dances salsa and merengue like me
Then on Friday, Vetiver is at Union Pool, and Tiny Hazard and Palberta are at Shea Stadium, and a pop-up Bollywood dance class appears at YO BK at 8.
Saturday has Nick Waterhouse at the Music Hall of Williamsburg at 8, then The Yin Yangs at Sunnyvale around 11. Here‘s some Nick, here‘s some Yin Yang.
Hunt for a date first at the Modern Love Club.
Sunday . . . there’s no good music in town. Well there probably is but I didn’t find any. Looking ahead to Monday, you’ve got Slingshot Dakota and Kississippi at Aviv.
Then Wednesday is a great night with saxophonist Takuya Kuroda at Nublu and From Indian Lakes at Mercury Lounge, and Pavo Pavo at the Manhattan Inn.
I always get tanked during Canadian Thanksgiving so you’ll need to fill me in later.
YouTube has all those Monday and Wednesday acts.
