Our Holiday Market featured vendor Black Sheep Heap is a small, progressive design house focusing on projects that promote sustainability, laughter, and social justice. We can get behind all of those things!
A market veteran, Black Sheep Heap’s “Beet The System” tee shirt is a favorite, along with a full line of hand-printed organic apparel and recycled bags.
With the above mission statement we can only expect the most environmentally friendly production and Black Sheep Heap indeed uses water-based, non-toxic inks and all of it packaging is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Each tote is made of 100% recycled cotton assembled in the lovely Ossining, NY. Everything is hand printed by the silk screen process in Black Sheep Heap’s Brooklyn studio. Not to mention all its products are fair wage and fair labor produced. These are all very good things.
And when founder Jillian Rose isn’t setting the example of sustainable production, she is also a mixed media fine artist. Check out her performance installation titled “You Grew Into Me” here.
Like us, Jillian can’t wait for our market on Sunday: “I’m super pumped to be in a space with so many courageously creative people that are great at what they do and continue to inspire.”
