A little over a month ago I posted about the Brooklyn Night Bazaar. Tomorrow they are holding a meeting to let the community voice their concerns and to respond to them.
Now I realize that people are already all up in arms over this. Especially the fact that they plan to serve alcohol and be open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights for five months straight.
I live a few blocks from where this will take place and I am very interested in seeing it happen. That said, I don’t live RIGHT there and I don’t own my home. Large events like this happen all the time and some work and some don’t. I’m in support of this one and from what I’ve been privy to, they seem to be taking everything into consideration. They’re holding a meeting for the community THREE months before they even start. To me, that’s a good sign.
I think it would be nice for the community. Something different and fun for everyone. There are many ways for this to go wrong, but I’m choosing to think it will go right. Are people going to be getting wasted at a market? I personally wouldn’t, but I’d definitely be apt to grab a beer while I shop and eat and then maybe catch dinner and another drink or two at the local bars and restaurants within walking distance. But that’s just me. You should go to the meeting to see and hear exactly what it’s going to be about.
Special thanks to Greenpointers reader Julie for sending me the above photos. 🙂
