As many of you know I work for the YMCA of Greater New York and I support the cause of the Strong Kids campaign. In December, my branch of the Y, McBurney is holding our annual online auction to benefit the Strong Kids Campaign. I sent an email out to many of my contacts and friends that I’ve made over the years through the creation of Greenpointers. And I was really touched by the donations made to our event by some of the wonderful local businesses I frequent and support.
So far I’ve received donations ranging from gift certificates to free produce from:
S.L.A.M. (STREB LABORATORY for ACTION MECHANICS)
GrowNYC Greenpoint Greenmarket
I’m thrilled and very thankful to these businesses for helping out. This is a wonderful chance for Greenpoint businesses to reach outside of the neighborhood to a whole new audience.
We’re looking for gift certificates, experiences, new items, services, etc. It can be from the company you work for or one you frequent or from a relative or friend. The YMCA is a non-profit organization and we will provide your company with the necessary form and tax deductible paperwork for their files.
Seriously, take a minute to visit the website – and look at all the amazing businesses that have donated in the past! This is a fantastic way to get the word out about your business. This is a yearly event that attracts a pretty decent clientele.
Forward it to your boss, your mom and your friends. The possibilities are endless for donations. If you’re a chef, offer your services to create a meal for a winning bidder. If you work at retail shop or restaurant, a gift card or certificate would be awesome. If your company makes products put together a basket full of your items. Tickets to concerts, events, and so on, and so on.
I will also be eternally grateful to those who donate!
