Halloween is a great time of year and as always there are events happening all around the neighborhood. I’ll be adding to this list as I get more events so feel free to bookmark it!
The Mark Bar starts off on Thursday the 28th with a Pumpkin Carving Contest at 8pm with the best carver to receive a bar tab and braggin’ rights.

And on Saturday a Mischief Night party at 10pm.

Friday night the 29th Warsaw is hosting a Fright Fest Halloween Costume Party starting at 8pm for a $10 cover with a free buffet.

On Saturday night, Red Star is hosting a $50 open bar party from 10pm-2am with a DJ spinning all night and $100 prize for best male and female costumes. Facebook event here.

At Zombiefest, people will be asked to dress as zombies and everyone will “crawl” or walk down Metropolitan Ave., toward indieScreen. Participants will have the option to screen the popular 1968 zombie film, “Night of the Living Dead” in zombie attire. A portion of the ticket price will go toward the Food Bank For New York City. After the film, participants can go to The Cove where the charity event will continue! There will be beer specials and a portion of the proceeds made will also benefit the Food Bank For New York City.

WHEN: Saturday, October 30th at 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: “Zombies” will meet at the playground on Marcy Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn.
COST: The Zombie Crawl is free and donations are welcomed. The screening of “Night of the Living Dead” is $12. You can purchase tickets online or at indieScreen before the viewing.

Satellite Lounge is hosting their Halloween bash to the tunes of the Cure, the Smiths, Depeche Mode and other assorted new wave-y, goth-y gods and goddesses of yore. Costumes encouraged, beer and shot specials all night. The misunderstood gloom starts at 10pm.

On Halloween day it’s District Dog‘s Annual Halloween Parade from 1pm-4pm at McGolrick Park. This year they are also offering $20 microchippiung services courtesy of Northside Vet & Dog Habitat.

The Habitat ALWAYS does Halloween proper and this year is no exception. Spend Halloween with them and their crazy clown house theme with the staff all dressed as… you got it, clowns. Bring your favorite coulrophobia and watch ’em squirm. Best costume wins $100 and Not-So-Best-But-Still-Pretty-Cool costume wins $50. Decorations will be up all weekend so be sure to stop in and check them out.
