Reader Tara sent me a great little review and info on the new restaurant Donia Cafe that finally opened. Billed as Mediterranean & American cuisine overlooking McGolrick Park.

Hi there!

Just wanted to pass on the word that over the weekend, my boyfriend Ryan and I checked out the new Donia Cafe on Driggs. It’s sort of tucked in away from the busy areas of Greenpoint, but we pass by it everyday and were anxiously awaiting for it to open.

It was well worth the wait! The interior is cozy and gorgeous, decorated for a Turkish flavor; as is their food, which is delicious. We can vouch for the Lam Gyro, Beef Lasagna, rose petal infused tap water and best of all, the dessert: Chocolate Mousse and Pistachio Baklava – all homemade, mind you.

Gladice, our server, was super sweet and a very good saleswoman (the above were all her recommends.) Decent prices, and something for everyone! We will definitely be back for some Turkish coffee and apple tea. (And possibly some hookah in the future!)

Please let everyone know about this great new place! You will not be disappointed.

Best,

Tara

Sounds like a spot to put on the to-do list. They’ve already racked up quite a few rave reviews on Yelp. Thanks Tara!
