This Sunday is the 1st Annual FARM TO FOLK FEST, a fundraising concert and artisanal food fair supporting the Greenpoint-Williamsburg CSA‘s low income fund. The event is from 3-8pm on Sunday Aug 22nd at Union Pool. Three local alt folk bands – Mia Riddle, Pearl and the Beard, and The Madison Square Gardners – will be performing in the courtyard and artisanal food vendors including: Bakesalery, The Brooklyn Salsa Company, Cheshire Canning, and The DP Chutney Collective will be selling their goods. Facebook event here.
The GWCSA was started in 2000 with the mission to establish and maintain connections between local residents and local farms as well as to foster more sustainable ways of eating and living. Farm to Folk will raise money for the GWCSA’s Low Income Fund, an initiative started in 2009 to provide access to farm-fresh organic produce for our neighbors who can least afford it.
Set times are as follows: Mia Riddle-6:30pm, Pearl and the Beard-5:00pm, Madison Square Gardeners-3:30pm. DJs will be spinning in the front room.
Co-sponsors include: Brooklyn Kitchen, Greenpoint Food Market, GrowNYC Greenmarket, Just Food, Sixpoint Craft Ale, and Sound Fix Records. Sixpoint Craft Ale is generously donating local brews to the event.
The GWCSA will be asking guests for a suggested $12 donation at the door with all proceeds directly benefiting the GWCSA’s Low Income Fund.
