Last night I got two phone calls from Con Edison about conserving non-essential electricity in my area. Apparently 1,100 customers in the area are without electricity right now. Thanks to my girl Michelle for the following tip.

Power Outage and Conservation Updates

Con Edison still urges customers in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and Bedford-Stuyvesant to discontinue use of non-essential electrical appliances and equipment, and to turn off lights and televisions when not needed.

Because of continued power outages in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the City is opening six nearby cooling centers to help affected residents stay cool:

Northside Senior Center – 179 N. 6th St.
Leonard Library – 81 Devoe St.
Williamsburg Community Center – 195 Graham Ave.
Borinquen Plaza Nutrition Program – 80 Seigel St.
JASA Williamsburg Senior Center – 202 Graham Ave.
Cooper Park – 76 Kingsland Ave.
