To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, volunteers from the greater Greenpoint, Brooklyn area will participate in an hour-long cleanup of Kingsland Avenue sponsored by urban|REgen, a new initiative from Broadway Stages.

Each volunteer will receive an urban|REgen t-shirt. Legislators and officials are also expected to stop by and lend a hand.

“Every neighborhood needs cleaner, greener streets,” said Catherine Barton, Principal, The Pinwheel Group, one of the event’s supporters. “Broadway Stages’ urban|REgen initiative is an attempt to help regenerate Greenpoint’s local economy and to say that taking care of your own home or your own building is just the beginning. Everyone has to pitch in to make the community work,” she added.

About urban|REgen: Building Blocks to the Future: Urban regeneration is a practical approach to economic and neighborhood development by providing an infrastructure to support meaningful employment and healthy living. Broadway Stages is committed to enhancing and remediating the communities in which they live and work.
