The 2nd annual Northside Festival has been announced for this Summer! Mark your calendars for June 24th through the 27th.
Now that the weather is warming up, it’s full steam ahead until summer: Perfect timing to announce the second annual Northside Festival — four days of music, art, film and a few too many tacos from a truck on Bedford — taking place June 24-27 in Williamsburg and Greenpoint.While us here at The L Magazine are booking a share of the shows on our own, Northside is, at its heart, a collaborative event. We’ve once again handed over curatorial control to some of the most tasteful, talented and dedicated folks in New York’s independent music scene — record labels, bloggers, promoters and more — allowing them to showcase the bands they think you need to hear and spotlight the community of artists that call New York home.The Williamsburg Gallery Association is again on board to highlight special exhibitions and other events at over 25 art galleries in the neighborhood. For Northside’s second year, we’ve invited a few of our favorite aficionados of independent film to curate four nights of New York-made movies at Brooklyn’s new, as yet unopened film house/music club/restaurant bar, indieScreen. And with Heineken and Southern Comfort sponsoring this year’s festivities, you better believe there will be lots of drink specials throughout the weekend.In the coming months we’ll be rolling out a long list of showcase presenters, gallery events, film screenings and, of course, bands; keep an eye on northsidefestival.com for the latest.
