Greenpoint’s largest & longest running reunion is back for it’s 19th year!
Save the date for the 19th Annual Greenpoint Lions Toys for Tots at the The Polish National Home (Warsaw) 261 Driggs Ave 11222 8pm. Facebook event here.
The Greenpoint Lions Club has been serving the Greenpoint, Brooklyn, community for over 65 years. For the past nineteen years we have sponsored a fund raising event on the first or second Saturday of December. The proceeds from this event are earmarked for youth and their families in need for the holidays and throughout the year.
During the past fifteen years, the Lions Club has been able to purchase toys and winter coats to be distributed during the Christmas season to families of Greenpoint. The gifts are distributed through the St. Vincent De Paul society of St. Anthony’s Church. There is also a specific monetary amount given to the St Vincent’s society for a food basket program at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter.
Throughout the year the Lions are called upon to assist in the purchase of eyeglasses, coats and specific needs of youth and families under emergency situations. We do the best we can to fill the requests. The number of youth served has grown over the years from about 100 to over 450 in 2008. These kids and their families are in need and deserve our support. The Lions motto is, “We serve”, and we are hoping you will assist in our efforts.
Hope to see everyone out this year bringing new toys for the kids and having a good time!
