My elementary school alma mater is having their first annual Walk-A-Thon around McGolrick Park to benefit their Saving The Arts program.

This is something that you can be a part of and actually be helping your community directly. Maybe some of the new people coming into Greenpoint are or will be starting a family, just think if your child went to PS 110 and they didn’t have Art?! I remember when I was a kid, Mr. Paige was the art teacher there and I have great memories of paper mache masks and my first time using pastels. He was one of my favorite teachers and art was one of my favorite classes. I think we can all stand a walk around the park on a Saturday afternoon for the kids.

The First Annual P.S. 110’s Walk-A-Thon will take place on Saturday, June 13th in McGolrick Park. As you may know, this will be the largest fundraiser held by the PTA this year. We anticipate that this event will bring in the most monies that will go towards the “Saving the Arts” Program in our school. We are depending on our parents and guardians to pool their resources to make this event a great success. In order to save the Arts Program, we are “walking” towards our goal of $25,000.

Students at P.S. 110 experience all four art disciplines by the time they graduate from fifth grade: visual arts, music, theater and dance. Resident artists provide opportunities for our students to explore their own creative talents and abilities through storytelling, examining different cultures through dance, musical theater and movement, ballroom dancing and productions of Shakespeare plays.

Registration will start at 10:00 a.m. and walking will begin at 11:00 a.m.
There is a suggested minimum donation of $25.00 per pledge sheet. Pledge sheets are due on Monday, June 8th in Room 101. We have special activities planned for all ages! There will be fun, food, and raffles (at a minimal cost) throughout the day.

Without your support, the PTA could not offer the myriad of events that happen each year. Together we make a difference.

Thank you,

PTA
