In honor of New Orleans, we are coordinating another BOOK DRIVE for the A.P. Tureaud school, located in the 7th ward of the city. To contribute, please check out the Amazon wish-list here and donate a book or two… or several. Tell your friends!
The books will be shipped to Maria’s parents’ home, in Louisiana, where they will put bookplates with your names inside of the books and organize them for the school. They will deliver the books to the school and take some snapshots that we, The Desk Set, will in turn, post on our website.
If you donate a book/books and plan to attend the party, please bring a record of your purchase, and we’ll have something special for you!
Please spread the word about the book drive! Every book makes a difference!
Maria & Sarah
PS. Check out the titles of books we bought with the proceeds from the Biblioball/fundraiser for Passages Academy on our new(ish) website: http://thedeskset.org/
The Desk Set is an informal group of librarians, archivists, Library Science students and other individuals who love books. The Desk Set gatherings usually entail meeting up at bars in Greenpoint or Williamsburg and sometimes we go on field trips, have picnics or book swaps. This mailing list is used to let you know about these social gatherings, events and other items of interest. If you’d like to be removed from the list, you know what to do (and if you’d like to add someone, let us know that too). Check us out at www.myspace.com/thedeskset & view our calendar of events here: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=thedeskset%40gmail.com&ctz=America/New_York
You can also heck out the event on Facebook here.
