This one isn’t really in Greenpoint but it’s something not to miss. Tomorrow night is the Big Brooklyn Pig Roast sponsored by Brooklyn Based. If pork is your thang then I suggest you don’t miss it cause BB throws one heck of shindig. Friday, October 10 at The Yard, 388-400 Carroll St. Doors open at 6pm. Cash bar; $1 Sixpoints until 7pm. Tickets include all food and are $32 advance, available here and $40 at the door. Free for kids ages 10 and under. Rain or Shine
For the kiddies is Pumpkin Day at McCarren Park this Saturday, October 11, 11am-1pm. Park Lawn at Driggs/Lorimer – HEY KIDS! Come and pick out your own pumpkin. Decorate it & take home. Other arts & crafts & yummy cider too! Tons of fun with the Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s creepy, crawly exhibit!And a grand performance by the Grand Street Community Band! $5 Suggested Donation (Saturday, October 18 rain date) Sponsored by Town Square
And while you’re at it save the date for Sunday October 26th for more kid stuff from Town Square. – We’re hosting our 5th Annual Children’s Halloween Parade & Party. Costumed kids of ALL AGES will meet up at 4 pm at 176 Java St (b/w Manhattan & McGuiness). Led by NY’s Finest Jazz Ensemble, we march down Manhattan Avenue to Norman and back again. Party to follow (for kids up to 12 years of age). Party admission is $5 for 1 child/1 adult & includes arts/crafts, food/drink, games, contests, music.
Then for the adults it’s The Habitat’s Oktoberfest – Celebrating Oktoberfest with $4 pints of Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest, Radeberger and Franziskaner Dunkel Weiss as well as food specials like Bavarian Pretzels and German Chocolate Cake
Derwyn Monaghan is doing 16mm cult films at 112 Meserole Ave every Friday night, starting tomorrow at 8pm. Including Girls in the Night, The Time Machine, and The Mac. Also, he’s got plans for a Halloween all-night monster fest on the 31st.
And on Sunday as our own Kea posted about a couple of weeks ago, it’s the Get to the ‘Point 5k Run. If you’re interested in joining the race tomorrow is the last day to register online. Otherwise you can register the day of the event (but you’ll have to pay full price!).
