This came to me via Teresa Toro and when one of our own needs a little bit of help I’m glad that Greenpointers stick together. This get together and support for Jennfer is taking place at Teddy’s where is pretty much where I grew up hanging out with my Dad and Uncle Tommy. And I know Felice since I was a kid.
So even in this rough economic time, stop by Teddy’s and pass a few bucks to Felice for Jennifer. And while you’re at it have a beer – we all need one.
Dear Friends:
Many of you probably know Jennifer Hilton. She’s lived in our community for 20 years; her daughter (now off to college) played on the local youth soccer teams. Jennifer has always been a go-to person whenever anyone needed help with a cause — tabling, petitioning, rallying, whatever was asked of her. She is a sharp, funny person and one of the loveliest people I have met on the community-activist beat.
Two things you need to know:
1) Jennifer lost her job somewhat recently.
2) Jennifer has 3rd-stage colon cancer.
On Thursday, October 16 starting at 7pm-ish, Jennifer’s friends and neighbors are meeting at Teddy’s Bar & Grill to offer her collective emotional and financial support. If you can’t make it to Teddy’s that evening, please consider passing a few bucks to Jane Pool or Felice Kirby or me — or almost anyone really, to pass along to Jennifer. As you all know, even a few dollars from a few people will add up quickly. I do understand that the current economy is causing us all to tighten our budgets, but really, whatever you can give will be well used. You can also help by spreading the word to your own local friends and neighbors.
I hope to see you on October 16, and I hope you will help spread the word to help us get a great turnout for Jen. She deserves it. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer…
love to all,
Teresa
