Show your support for Sandy Relief Efforts with this styling Tee-shirt.
About the design: The heart in the hurricane logo was one inspired by all of the love and support people were sharing, amidst the devastation that existed.
A group of New Yorkers volunteering in the Rockaways and Staten Island decided that they needed to create a platform to raise money for continuing Sandy relief efforts. The result of their dedication and inspiration is Let’s Rebuild NY.
By purchasing a Tee-shirt from www.letsrebuildny.com, you’ll not only be supporting New Yorkers effected by Hurricane Sandy, but looking dapper doing it. I can’t wait to rock mine with my favorite pair of Zubaz pants.
All Let’s Rebuild NY Tee-shirts are produced in NY, and every penny of the net proceeds is going towards supporting those suffering from the impact of Sandy through a partnership with the Red Cross.

Below is info on the current situation at ADOPT NY
Many rescue groups and NY shelters sustained extensive damage to their facilities, as well as many fosters becoming homeless themselves.
So here’s what we’ve been up to at Adopt NY in response:
We’ve developed a plan to assist our 44 rescue groups as directly and quickly as possible, providing them with the two most important needs: new fosters and new supplies.
What’s needed now are supplies — things like mass quantities of food, animal crates, blankets, beds, toys, etc. Using our contacts in the pet industry, we’re going to get as many of these items for wholesale prices as possible, and aim to have everything shipped out and in our rescues’ hands ASAP.
Together with your help, we want to provide the assistance all our rescue groups who so desperately need.
Greenpointers, as a community we have raised over $10,000 for Sandy Relief Efforts! We raised $9400 for New York Cares and $900 for Greenpoint Soup Kitchen! Great job!
Then on Sunday (11/18) we are hosting aSoup Bowl Fundraiser at EAT, a fun event we were planning even before Hurricane Sandy arrived for Greenpoint Soup Kitchen.
On Friday, I received a call from Omaha, Nebraska. Chris from paypal alerted me that our account was “limited” verging on “restricted” because it is against policy to sell raffle tickets via paypal as it can be in violation of gambling laws! (Don’t freak out!)
All mention of raffle was removed and we continued to fundraise. After uploading a million legal documents and explaining what we were doing, paypal resolved the matter.
That being said, because I cannot say anymore…
If you receive an email from me, it’s because you are randomly awesome! (Randomly awesome people will NOT be announced on the website.)
Thanks to everyone who donated and may the laws of awesomeness be with you!
Thanks to the following businesses for sending us all those “pretty pictures!”
Don’t miss these fun events this Sunday (11/11) for Hurricane Sandy Relief.
Start off with the Brooklyn Vintage Crawl, which takes place in Williamsburg and Greenpoint from noon-8pm.
Shop and bar hop your way through Brooklyn’s best vintage deals and drink specials. Many locations will be donating a % of sales to Sandy Relief efforts.

From 5-7pm, The Diamond (43 Franklin St) is hosting a Chili Cook Off. $12 gets you some fabulous entertainment (after 7) a taste of all chills and one pint of the very rare Hofstetten Hochzeitsbier served from a wooden barrel! 100% door, plus beer special donated to Occupy Sandy Relief Effort.

For those interested in volunteering to help clean up the hardest hit areas, we’ll be providing training sessions to ensure that we send down organized and prepared teams. There are safety and health concerns and we want volunteers to be prepared. The sessions — “Operation Muck Out” provided by World Cares Center* — will take place here at our Tasting Room.
Tuesday, November 13,7-8pm will be Team Leaders Training for those who want to get pointers on how to prepare and lead a team to help homeowners clean up, and from 8-9pm we’ll provide basic safety information and other practical information to prepare you to aid in clean up. RSVP: Carla at cvilla (AT) brooklynbrewery.com.
With the ongoing gas shortage and damage and delays to our public transportation system caused by Hurricane Sandy, do your fellow New Yorkers and yourself a favor and bike!
In an effort to encourage biking in Greenpoint, Silk Road Cycles (76 Franklin St) is offering a special to Greenpointers readers with 15% off the purchase of bikes and accessories and 10% off labor for the month of November.
So get a bike or dust off the beater, get tuned up and hit the road!
Silk Road Cycles will join Affinity Cycles (616 Grand St) for a Rockaways Food Delivery Ride. To join the ride: meet at Affinity Cycles on Saturday (11/10) at 9:30am with “batteries, cleaning supplies and food,” to be delivered to the Rockaways on your bicycle.
