The most rager-ey holiday party – the No Office Holiday Party, co-hosted by Brokelyn and the skint, is this Thursday 12/11! It’s the office party for the freelancers, folks without offices or anyone who hates their coworkers. And it’s only $5!
Brokelyn is turning five and throwing a big party – a HOMECOMING DANCE – TONIGHT at 7:30pm at the Bell House (149 7th St) to celebrate 5 years of “living big on small change.”
The Brokelyn High Homecoming Dancewill sport cheesy varsity jackets, an awkward school dance photo booth, cheerleaders, a spelling bee, gender-neutral homecoming king and queen and even a real live marching band. Good thing you no longer have a curfew… Continue reading →

Our pals at Brokelyn just dropped the long-awaited 2014 edition of their Beer Book. And if you were thinking about gifting a box of Duane Reade chocolates to your loved one this V-Day, it’s probably a good time to reconsider. You know what’s better than waxy chocolate? BEER.
For $30, the book includes coupons for 30 beers at 30 bars all over Brooklyn (plus a few extras). So you can throw it in your pocket and hit the borough hard. They’re good for the whole year.
The best part, apart from the whole $1 beer thing, is that the book is like a little glimmer of foamy motivation that will get you to try new bars and neighborhoods that you might not get to otherwise. The Beer Book is actually 2 Books. What’s that, you say? Book 5 covers “Upper Brooklyn”(a new take on North) , which includes G-point, W-burg, B-wick, and B-Stuy (if I was a teenage girl texting, that’s how I’d break it down) and Book 6 covers “Middle Brooklyn,” which includes Cob-Hill, Dit-Park, P-Heights and P-Slope (sorry, not sorry). May we suggest a 30-bar crawl for the non-faint of liver? Continue reading →
I never thought I would be so excited to get out of Greenpoint tonight! But this NO OFFICE HOLIDAY PARTY we are hosting along with The Skint and Brokelyn is SO WORTH IT! Just the raffle prizes alone are insane (see below) PLUS: HAND JOB ACADEMY is performing along with Special Guest Comedian Michael Lawrence. There will be $3 punch and drink specials, YEAH DAWG! will be slingin’ vegan hot dogs, and Yuka (Greenpointers’ official photo booth photographer) will be helping you keep your shit sorta together for one last fancy photo of the year. And since our blog co-hosts are major cheapskates, tickets are only $8.
Are you a freelancer, co-worker, artist, work from hom-er, unemployed? Or maybe you just hate your job. No office? No problem! Just because aren’t chained to a desk doesn’t mean you should let the midtown drone/zombie/suits of the world have all the fun this holiday season.
(It’s not in Greenpoint, but it’s just off the G and worth the trip!)
We’ll have all the trappings of a holiday affair — live-band karaoke from Bunnie England & The New Originals, dance tunes from DJs Brian Blackout & Spoolwork (Head On, YDH2S) and Mr. Nyse, a FREE photo booth by Marofoto, food and a holiday gift items raffle — and some too-cool-for-cubicle bonuses including $3 punch for the first hour ($5 after), sexy Santa and lady Santa, a set from the ladies of Handjob Academy and a special guest comedian!
Come join your favorite blogs and dance like your boss isn’t watching all night long.
Hosted by Jo Firestone, co-creator of Punderdome 3000 and the Tiny Comedy Club.
