A public forum on the construction progress of the new Greenpoint Library (107 Norman Ave.) will take place later this month.

The neighborhood’s only public library closed in July 2017 and construction was originally expected to finish in the winter of 2018, but the discovery and removal of asbestos in the former foundation and related delays have pushed the expected completion to this fall.

The Friends of Greenpoint Library are holding a community forum to answer your questions and build support for the library on Tuesday, April 23, at PencilWorks (61 Greenpoint Ave. 6th floor) from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Hey Greenpointers! Want to hear about the progress made on the new library? Do you have ideas for programming you would like to see at the library? Want to help Greenpoint Library grow?

Come by to meet the new branch manager, hear updates from the construction program manager and learn how to join the Friends of Greenpoint Library. Meet your neighbors, plan special events, and brainstorm ways to support the Greenpoint Library and its community. A branch library can have a greater impact when it has an active and vibrant Friends Group.

If you love your local library and want to be more involved then this is the place for you! We look forward to seeing you!

If you are interested in becoming a Friend of Greenpoint Library and cannot make a meeting, please send us a DM or email friends@bklynlibrary.org for more information.
