That’s right Greenpointers. We need to be on high alert. There are two different predators on the loose and they are targeting their victims in our sister neighborhood of Williamsburg.

Pervert tries luring 11 year old into his SUV

Police have released a sketch of the man above who they believe attempted to lure an 11 year old girl into his silver SUV. The incident happened two weeks ago at approximately 5:50pm on the corner of Manhattan Avenue and Moore Street.  The man first waved to the girl, beckoning her to come into his SUV. When she ignored his advances, the suspect parked his car and tried a second attempt to get the girl in his vehicle. The girl ran far away and the creep fled the scene.

The police have release this image of the pervert’s vehicle which appears to be a silver cross-over SUV.

Talk about terrifying.  A 38 year old woman on her way home late Wednesday night popped into a bodega on the corner of Havemeyer and South 3rd street. Inside the store she was approached by a 6ft4 man who attempted to strike up a conversation, according to police.  When she ignored him and left the bodega, the man followed her along Driggs Avenue until they reached her apartment building. The man, who was visibly drunk, told the woman he knew someone who lived in the building and convinced her to let him inside.

This is when the scene turned dangerous.

As they both climbed stairs, the man following behind said, “I’m not going to play games with you,” and punched her in the face several times.

A neighbor described what she saw on the video footage: “He threw her down the stairs to the 3rd floor. As he was dragging her, he was trying to pull her jeans off.”

The victim’s son, a high school football player, heard his mother’s screams for help and ran out into the hallway and chased the man out of the building.

His father reported to the NYPost, “He was crying. My son is traumatized…He told me, ‘I heard it Daddy. I wish I had caught him.'”

The woman refused medical attention at the scene. Police have yet to make an arrest.

The suspect is described to be a 25 to 35 year old black male, approximately 6 ft 4 inches tall, weighing roughly 200 pounds. The surveillance cameras, which captured the violent act on video, shows the suspect wearing a black flight jacket with the words “Lincoln Street St. Mary’s Council 112” in embroidered yellow stitching.

If anyone believes they have seen either suspects, please contact the police’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-577-TIPS.

And it’s worth mentioning–while adults nor children should never get into a stranger’s car, we should also never let anyone we don’t know into our apartment buildings. Regardless of how quaint our neighborhood can feel, we still live in New York City. It pays to be vigilant. Our thoughts go out to the victims.  Keep your eyes open and stay safe Greenpoint!

    1. I hope you are not blaming the victim here. This might have happened so quick. According to the description the guy is a big man with a long arm reach, most likely held the door open himself.

  1. @bryan,
jesus… that’s what you take from this article?
she probably let him in because she was terrified of what would happen if she didn’t.
