1917 picket line, c/o Library of Congress

March is just a few days away, and it signals Women’s History Month. We want to honor this nationally recognized time period on a local level by meeting some of the women who make our neighborhood stronger and better. To do that, we need your help! We’ll be accepting nominations all month for the Greenpoint women you think we should know.

To submit a nomination to us, email greenpointers at gmail.com with the subject line AWESOME GREENPOINT WOMAN.

In your email, answer the following:

1. Why is this woman awesome? How does she make Greenpoint awesome?

2. What is your relationship to her? (friend, spouse, mother, co-worker)

v

3. CC the awesome woman so we can interview her

4. Include a great photo + link(s) to website/social media

We look forward to hearing from you!

  1. I would like to nominate Flannery Foster, the co-founder of Good Yoga. A lot of people go to that studio because the have met Flannery, because she’s great. She and her partner Ray live in Greenpoint and are always doing stuff locally and publicizing other people’s events and businesses. The studio has a night of 108 Sun Salutations every few months to raise money for women around the world suffering from fistulas and the have art shows from local artists. She’s just a good, local person who spends a lot of time listening to a lot of people. And a lot of time caring.
