In the horrifying aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan that struck the Philippines recently, local resident and chef extraordinaire Yana Guilbuena will be hosting a benefit dinner, SALO Labing-Isa, in Greenpoint next week to raise urgently needed funds for victims of the disaster.

On Monday, November 25th at 6pm, Yana will be serving an incredible five-course Filipino dinner at Sindicato de Cocineros on Nassau Ave. The meal will feature dishes from islands affected by the typhoon: Cebu, Panay, Negros, Leyte and Masbate. In keeping with other SALO dinners, the meal will be served ‘Kamayan’ style, a.k.a sans utensils.

Dinner is BYOB and costs $60, but Feastly is generously offering $10 off any tickets purchased through them with the code: “salo”.

Included in the price is a raffle ticket to win an extremely beautiful Willow Bicycle donated by Brooklyn Bicycle Company.

30% of the proceeds will be donated to nafconusa.org.

To join the feasting, sign up and book a seat here. Diners are encouraged to register pronto to be sure of a seat.

In 2014 Yana has plans to take SALO on a grand 50-state tour, which means that this could be the last chance in a while that the neighborhood will get to sample her delicious cuisine.

Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy an evening of amazing Filipino cooking whilst also donating to an extremely worthwhile cause.
