Greenpoint Skinheads, Delicious Donuts, Local Kickstarting, Violent Apple Thief, Pinball Marathon — The Hook-Up (11/11)
Adam Krause is a photographer who shot these incredibly intense, and if you’re local, horrifying, photos of “Greenpoint Brooklyn Nazi Skinheads.” from 2009 that was featured on Slate.com last week. I heard Krause being interviewed on the radio this week, also. I wonder how many people in Greenpoint know of these guys.
Gothamist’s “7 Best Donuts in NYC” obviously began their article with Peter Pan’s Red Velvet/Glazed Sour Cream Donut. Personally, I would say all seven best donuts come from Peter Pan Bakery.. remember when Tina Fey said the same thing?
Brownstoner tells us that Kickstarter’s move to Greenpoint is complete and their business at the Pencil Factory building at 58 Kent Street will open sometime this month. We love Kickstarter and we are thrilled that our first project got fully funded last week for our Neon Sign Documentary.
A local man tried to steal an apple from Rachel’s Garden on Nassau Avenue. When he was told that he’d have to pay for it, he tried to choke one of their employees, bit his left ear, drawing blood and then pushed him to the ground. (DNA Info)
And finally, while some people were running New York’s marathon last week, another marathon was happening right here at Greenpoint’s Sunshine Laundry on Manhattan Avenue. They were having a pinball machine marathon. Really! (Brokelyn)
