Want to Volunteer in Rockaways? Take the Rockaway Ferry

According to NYCEDC blog:

“Helping to assist thousands impacted by Hurricane Sandy in the Rockaways, Mayor Bloomberg, New York City Economic Development Corporation and Seastreak today announced a partnership to provide temporary ferry service between the Rockaways and Manhattan while subway service on that route is suspended. Seastreak will operate the ferry service beginning this Monday, November 12.

  • Ferries will depart from Beach 108th Street and Beach Channel Drive (View Larger Map), where NYCEDC has installed a temporary landing, and stop at Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan with free transfers between Pier 11 and East 34th Street in Midtown.
  • The service will start at 5:45 AM in the Rockaways with ferries departing for Manhattan regularly until 9:20 AM, with regular service resuming during the evening rush.
  • One-way fares will be $2.”

About Jen G

After living in NYC my entire life, I found the strongest sense of community in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Running this blog is truly an honor and the best part is meeting its readers in real life. Everyday I am energized by smiles and inspiring conversations with fellow Greenpointers who tirelessly do and create incredible things that are good for our community and share the same love I have for life here. If you see me walking with my little dog "D" - please say hi!
