Autumn in Greenpoint through the eyes of the boys from Alter. It’s definitely much more stylish than most Greenpointers eyes. Fantastic images and style from the hottest shop(s) on Franklin. – Alter Blog

It’s baaaaaaaaaaaack! Studio B’s grand re-opening is scheduled for October 17th but their calendar says there’s even a show on Sunday October 12th and they had a show last week, but I digress. I’m glad to see they haven’t been shut down, but then I never thought they would be. To me it’s obvious how things work in this city and in this neighborhood and I knew that Studio B was never really in any danger of being permanently shuttered. But seriously, I wish they would have some shows that I would want to go see – I just can’t get into the DJ music scene. – Williamsburg Is Dead

As our own Kea pointed out it’s Polish-American Heritage Month! And as a part Pole myself, pierogies are the shit, yo. Take the Slavs of New York Polish Walking Tour to learn a little more about the Polskie way of life here in GPT. – Greenpointers, Slavs of New York & amNY

MetroNY does a a snapshot of Manhattan Avenue between Milton & Noble. There are quite a few vacant for rent storefronts on that tiny stretch but I’ve been seeing life go on inside a couple of them recently, so we can probably be expecting some new things to pop up very shortly over there. – Metro NY

And even Ireland know about The ‘Point! “Greenpoint is an island of hip understatement on the northernmost tip of Brooklyn, an intact urban village with an industrial edge, blue-collar heart and milliondollar views of mid-town Manhattan. Mom-and-pop shops mingle with small art galleries; pierogis and stuffed cabbage rub elbows with tofu hot dogs and Niman Ranch naturally raised beef; metal foundries and carpentry shops work side-by-side with film crews and artisan ice-cream makers.” – The Independent

Tom over at Citical Reviews does Greenpoint Coffee House which just happens to be hands-down, my favorite spot for brunch in the neighborhood. Seems he’s pretty fond of it, too. – Critical Reviews

Ah Top Chef Brooklyn – or Top Chef: New York as Bravo is calling it – is a little over a month away, premiering on November 12th. But the website is up now, showing the faces we can expect this season. Oh and apparently there’s a new judge, too. – Bravo & Grub Street

Diamond Bar now has a vintage Gondola ski lift from Gore Mountain in the Adirondacks in their yard for seating. No, seriously, just check out that picture to the left of “these guys performing the EXTREMELY SKETCHY task of taking this thing over the roof”. I’ve GOT to check this out. – Diamond Bar

NY1 has a video showing two Williamsburg (expensive, hipstery & trendy) shops. As NY1 celebrates Brooklyn Week, Michelle Yu turned to Zagat’s Best of Brooklyn survey for ideas on where to shop for trendy threads and home items in Williamsburg. – NY1

For some more expensive shopping in Williamsburg, designer Paul Smith is opening “a freestanding store, the first of its kind in the U.S. that will sell only marked-down items, at 280 Grand Street between Roebling and Havemeyer Streets. The 900-square-foot space will open Oct. 16.” – WWD

Here’s a novel idea – it’s like The Sartorialist for the octogenarian set. Advanced Style showcases “Proof from the wizened and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age.” Oh and and look at the little old Polish lady in Greenpoint’s matching hat and scarf! I love it. – Advanced Style

  1. I sat in the gondola last night…it is amazing (a great addition to what is already my favorite bar). the Diamond also showed the debate last night, and although it was crowded it was a great setting to watch it in.

oh and thanks for the link!
    Cheers,

  2. That IS McGolrick Park. The house with the pyramid shaped roof in the picture is on the corner of Nassau and Monitor. The photo looks like it is taken from the corner of Russell looking East on Nassau.

  3. Duh! It didn’t even occur to me to take the view looking the other way. I am so fucking directionally challenged its ridiculous. Thank you!

  4. I just checked out the NY1 video on Willimasburg shopping. I love the shop About Glamour but i don’t agree with Zagat’s rating of its price point as expensive.. I have left there with an armload of stuff for close to nothing. They stock a great selection of vintage Vivienne Westwood tights and accessories starting at only $25.
